Read the rest of this entry
Hiermee J-L.
Read the rest of this entry
Every now and then you have a day where school really isn’t what you need that day. That’s the nice thing about homeschooling. You can really tap into the days your kids will be like sponges so you can be ahead and use the off days for reading, playing or… well math I guess! Read the rest of this entry
Hiermee E- I se Werksblaaie en Kleimatte.
Read the rest of this entry
On the 10th of April my Country South Africa, marched against injustice by the President of our Country. While walking the twins through the streets in my Neighbourhood there was a sense of unity going around that day. All the colours of skins smiled and greeted each other with pride as we stood up together against our corrupt government.
It wasn’t always like that day. In fact South Africa as a country has come a long way in a short while and we still have a long way to right all the wrongs in the best possible way.
We as a country endured many hardships in between our love for our beautiful mountains, big five animals and sunny summers.
As a white person in South Africa, despite having many dear friends of color and despite always standing up against racism, I hardly ever try to speak up publicly against our corrupt government because somehow I feel that whatever we say, it will be seen as racist because we are speaking up against a black dominating government. Most of our days are filled with a little “school work’ that consists mostly of art, crafts or educational play, lots of unguided play between the two of them, naptime and bedtime routine. There are a few things though, I try to get into every one of their days, except for the days they have gymnastics or dance lessons.
As a stay at home mom I do have some advantages. Having my toddlers around all day is certainly a blessing for me but even though I love to have them around, it can also be difficult as there are always things that need to get done…
Like writing blog posts for instance…
I wrote about screen time in THIS post. My oh my how difficult it is to do stuff in the house like cleaning or cooking when you have busy toddlers making sure you are needed each and every waking (and sometimes sleeping) hour of the day.
Ok I know Storks has been out for a while but we only recently got to see it and may I say I was pleasantly surprised to find yet another fun movie for almost the whole family! I mean seriously, how many of those can they make?
Apparently a lot!
Though I have to add that I am always weary of what to show my 4 year old twins. They have always been sensitive viewers and it’s really is a pity that you hardly find any stories these days that don’t start with a bad guy and ends up with the good guys having to jump through fiery hoops and climb icy deadly mountains before the end is near. As Parents we don’t get to watch much other than kids movies and since we cut screen time in our house drastically, I even see less these days. As a movie enthusiast it really blows to miss out on the latest movies and series… as in seriously, before we had kids I could binge watch series for days. Read the rest of this entry
“You can fix it Mommy, because you’re Fixit.” Ive been named after one of my son’s favourite Transformers characters because I mostly manage to fix his broken toys. I have many different kinds of glues for different kinds of fixes close at hand as some of my DIY Mommy-must-haves. Sometimes however, I have to disappoint him with the news that a particular break can in fact, not even be fixed by his Fixit Mommy. That’s until I got this new awesome tester in the mail.
