This bird feeder is fun to make and quick and easy to do with toddlers. I just love recycling materials and what better to recycle than toilet paper rolls!

What you’ll need:

  1. Peanut butter
  2. Garden bird seed
  3. Toilet paper rolls
  4. String
  5. Ice Cream container
  6. Butter knife (or just a blunt knife)

Step 1:

Spread the toilet roll with peanut butter until it is covered

You’ll want to make sure its not too thick (especially the ones toddlers did) as birds can choke on too much peanut butter!

Note: Finish all the steps with each roll before you move on to the next roll as the peanut butter will dry quickly and the seeds won’t stick on it as well.

Step 2:

Cover the base of the Ice Cream container with Garden Bird Seeds and roll the toilet roll while pressing firmly to cover the whole roll in seeds.

Step 3:

Tie with a string to a tree and you’re set!

The most fun of course was hiding away, waiting for the birdies to arrive… and success was the next day with the second try when the little birdies realised where the food will be… they visit us daily now!
