I have previously shared this textured play-dough recipe made for small toddlers and since came across the best recipe ever!!! This one is beautifully smooth and shiny with a texture that resembles fondant and the best thing is it smells great and works for all ages.
You will need:
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 cup flour (plus 1/2 for kneading afterwards)
- 2 Tablespoons cooking oil
- 2 Tablespoons salt
- 1 Sachet (2 Tablespoons) Cream of Tartar
- 1 Packet of Jelly (Jello)
Mix everything except for the extra 1/2 cup and stir over medium heat until the texture becomes like play- dough.
It will clump like the photo above… Mine has burnt on the bottom every time so don’t worry, just carry on stirring!
When you have the desired texture, let it cool down on a floured plate.
Knead and keep on sprinkling flour until it doesn’t stick to your hands anymore. The amount of extra flour adds up to about 1/2 cup.
The colors are stunning and light when you use only the jelly. This was a blue jelly that ended up in a mint colour that I actually loved.
For this previous batch I added red coloring to a yellow jelly and this is the color that we ended up with. This one was stirred over high heat and ended up in a very stiff and crumbly play-dough which is not as nice as when its done over medium heat so keep it down!!
Enjoy!
