This fun project is easy to do with toddlers if you are not too focused on having it perfect.

What you’ll need:

  • Paper plates (preferably 2 small and two large ones)
  • Green Paint
  • 2 x Toilet paper rolls
  • Glue
  • Glitter, pipe cleaners, pom-poms, sequence etc. to decorate your tree with.

Step 1:

Let your toddler paint the back of the paper plates. This is what mine looked like after they were done. I kept their original lines and just finished the unfinished open spaces.

Step 2:

Cut about 1/6 piece out of your plates and glue the sides together to form a cone.

Step 3:

Put a little glue in a container and give your your toddler a little glue brush (I just used popsicle sticks) to decorate the cones as they wish. Glue blobs and stripes with glitter sprinkled over works well.

Remember, just take out the amounts you allow them to use or they will use everything you give them or at least get all of it full of glitter. This is a messy project so make sure to use newspaper underneath and make peace with the fact that it WILL be messy!

This also works well without the decorating if you want to do more formal ones!

Step 4:

Cut one toilet paper roll in four quarters and glue them on the tops of the cones and to the bottoms of the ones that go on them. You may have to cut a little here or there to make it look even. Use the second toilet paper roll as the trunk of the tree.

If you didn’t interfere too much, it will look something like this: Enjoy!
